The Miracle of Vision

Posted by Todd Bishop on July 30, 2007 in Vision

I was on a Home Missions Trip this past week to a small church near Albany. There was no intention on communicating the vision of The Point to the congregation. The Pastor ( a good friend ) at the end of the service asked my wife and I to come forward so they can pray for us. He told his small church of our dream and vision for The Point. Then they prayed. It was one of those times that I really felt the prayers. Have you ever had one of those? It was really cool.

After the service an 89 year old woman came up to me and asked for my name. I told her. She then said, “I am going to write a check.” My jaw dropped. She was so cute. I thought maybe she will give a check for 20 or 30 bucks. She hands me her gift and I placed it in my pocket. A few moments later as I was changing for the drive home I looked at the check (I am still trying to figure out when it is okay to look for the first time at someone’s donation). 500 dollars!

I found her before we left. Hugged her and said it was too much. She said, “I am planted a seed in your new ministry. God told me to do this. I wish I could give you 10 times more.” We embraced. I cried. This wonderful women then told my wife and I stories of God’s miracles in her life and that her reason for living is giving!

There is so much more to this story, but I will save it for when it comes to pass.

Two things about vision:
1. People live for vision – most people want to live for something larger than themselves. I really believe that.
2. People give to vision – when people see something that is “of God” they will pour their resources into a project.

Vision – without it we walk around aimlessly. With it we can see the hand of God.
