The Point of a Memorial Service
I have been to a lot of funerals over my lifetime. In fact, in the last 12 years of ministry I have been to so many I can’t even keep track. I have a little experience in funeral/memorial services. I have seen some of the best funeral services and I have been to some of the worst.
There are 3 things that I believe every memorial service needs to have:
Look back on the life of the deceased.
Use God’s Word as the source of comfort.
Utilize the opportunity to help people initiate the grief process.
Funerals are tough. Probably one of the hardest jobs of a pastor. But God can use these as an opportunity for more people to hear about Jesus.
