The Point of Marketing

“Getting the word out!”  That’s one of the hardest things to accomplish in the beginning of a new church.  In fact, it is difficult to market anything new.  A lot of people, in the church-world, think that marketing is a non-spiritual, taboo, avoid-at-all-costs part of building a church.  You can have the greatest product in the world – you promote it on a billboard in the middle of the deepest, darkest jungle – no one sees it!  How good will your product do?  Not too well.  The church has the greatest message and the greatest master – we should share the truths of Christ with the greatest marketing possible.

Marketing Principles:
1.  Multiple Reinforcements – don’t just use one mode of marketing.  Use several layers.
2.  Repeat Successes – find the marketing tool that works and use it.  Don’t place resources in something that has no return.
3.  Excellence.  Enough said.
4.  Know your target/audience.  Market to your target.
5.  Telemarketing Principle – it takes 8-10 hits to make a connection.  Arouse people’s curiosity by staying in front of their eyes.
6.  Be creative.  Don’t get stuck in one design style.  Change it up.
Share Christ.  Today’s mode is pictures/video/images – use them well.
