Day 4: Love God with All Your Soul
When we are told to love God with all of our soul the first question we must ask ourselves is “What is our soul?” The soul is the depth of who you are – it s where you come alive. God gives us “life” – he gives us the reason for being. The soul is where our will and God’s will collide to find the “right” place for us to be.
The Hebrew word for soul is nephesh, which simply means “to breathe.” God has placed his life in us – as we love God with all we are it is a significant declaration of us understanding God has given us this life!!!
We must love God with …
Passion – We have to pursue God with a DEEP passion. Not letting anything get in the way of our commitment to God.
Purpose – We also need to understand we were made to love God. It is our number one drive (or should be) in life.
We can easily make loving God a habit! That’s not what He wants! God simply wants us to love him for who He is and what He does. Habits typically are void of passion. Loving God has to be more than HABIT!
VERSE: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled” (Matthew 5:6).
QUESTION: Is God your ultimate passion?
