Day 8: The Impossible Challenge

0310283671READING:  pages 81-87

Wow!  Today we heard a great message by Nick Osso, challenging us to love as Jesus loves us!  Not an easy task even for the holiest of people (I don’t include myself in that list).  But if God said that we can love others as he loved us … it must be a reachable goal.  Here’s the catch – we can’t love like Jesus without the power of God’s love!  And He is the only one who can give us the strength to love!

Be honest!  It’s hard to love at times! C’mon, it is challenging to love those who are different, or annoying, or, well, you fill in the blank.  But we are told to LOVE … it’s a simple concept, but it is often complicated to live out!  How do we love an abusive person?  How can I love a child abuser?  How can we love a murderer?  Or a felon?  How?  It can only come from God!

So how can we gain that same power to love?  By asking.  John 14:14:  “Yes, ask me for anything in my name and I will do it.”  Anything simply means anything.  Even love!  Having a hard time loving ask God to help you love!

VERSE:  “A new command I give you: Love one another.  As I have loved you, so you must love one another” (John 13:34).

QUESTION:  Why is it so hard to love?
