Day 13: Choose to Fellowship, Choose to Forgive
Real love requires two things in our lives. It requires relationship (fellowship) and it requires understanding (forgiveness). Without those two ingredients a friendship, romance or marriage is destined to disintegrate!
Spending time together is a huge part of any relationship. It is the only way you can get to know the other person. To be honest, internet relationships have replaced face-to-face interaction. There are many people that are extroverted online but introverted in person. We are slowly slipping into a non-personal communication trend. 1 John 1:7 teaches us that we should fellowship with each other because of our relationship with God. Our relationship with God should propel us to build relationships with others.
Forgiveness is the other great component of a loving relationship. This requires understanding. Understanding that God has forgiven us so we need to choose to forgive others. Paul encouraged us to “forgive each other” (Eph. 4:32). When we fail to forgive we are typically “punishing” the other person. Not a good thing. Not a Christ-like action! Choose to forgive even when your feelings say otherwise!!!
QUESTIONS: How can I build stronger relationships? Who do I need to forgive today?
