Day 24: Love is Not Rude

0310283671READING:  pages 207-211

I have purposefully taken some some away from writing a post for the last few days.  I wanted to focus on “living it out” and not just writing about it.  Man, the last several days have been amazing reads and life-changing seeds.

The Bibles says, “Love is not rude.”  We should not return rudeness with rudeness … as good as it may feel … we can’t respond that way because is respectful.

Have you ever been in a conversation with someone and then all of a sudden they are on their cell phone … they did not say, “Excuse me.”  They simply picked up their phone … I think that is pretty rude … and yes, I still do it, but I am getting better.

Look what the Bible says about this – Proverbs 18:13 “Answering before listening is both stupid and rude.”

Love listens.  And then love responds respectfully not just truthfully.  And it does not interrupt.

Ephesians 4:31-32:  “Stop being bitter and angry and mad at each other.  Don’t yell at one another or curse each other or ever be rude. Instead, be kind and merciful and forgiving.  Forgive others, just as God forgave you because of Christ” (CEV).

Look at the word INSTEAD … instead of rudeness we are encouraged to be kind, merciful and forgiving … then we are given the reason why we should be respectful … it’s contained in three words … “just as God” … we must respond “just as God” … seems like a pretty large mountain to climb.

God was so kind, merciful and forgiving to us … he acted INSTEAD because love listens and love is respectful.
