Authenticity vs Activity

Matthew 7:21-23: “Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’”

How crazy is that?  There are going to be people who did amazing things for Jesus but who were not amazing with Jesus.  Big Difference!  Life can get busy, but we must never lose our grip on just being with Jesus.

You see, we can be preaching, teaching, serving, giving and more for Jesus.  But He has asked us to live with Him.

Just because we are busy that does not mean that we are right!  I have seen too many Christ-followers so busy that they are not spending time with Jesus.  The truth is I have been there.  Activity does means authenticity.  You can be doing ministry as a pastor and still not have an authentic relationship with Jesus.  You can be serving on your church board … you get the picture … the list could go on and on.

This week lets seek to be authentic with Jesus and not just active for Him.
