Enlarge, Spread & Burst
Isaiah 54. 2“Enlarge your house; build an addition. Spread out your home, and spare no expense! 3For you will soon be bursting at the seams. Your descendants will occupy other nations and resettle the ruined cities.”
I love this passage of Scripture because I believe it contains the vision of Point Church for the next season. I have been praying this passage over The Point since January … specifically praying that we would “burst at the seams.”
Here’s the 4 lessons I share today at both our campuses:
1. The House is not about a building.
2. The House is about those who don’t know God finding their way to Him.
3. The House is about seeing people grow closer and closer to Jesus every single week.
4. The House is not about me … but it is all about Jesus!
After attending church one Sunday morning, a little boy knelt at his bedside that night and prayed, ‘Dear Jesus, we had a good time at church today, but I wish you had been there!””
Church, I want Jesus to be wherever we are.
Jesus must be in our Worship!
He should be seen in our Host & Hospitality Team.
Jesus has to be evident in the teaching!
The Church has never been about what the church can do for you – but it has always been about what you can do for the church!
The Point can never become about us! But it always has to be about JESUS!!!
Why? Because “Christ offers what other religions cannot”. Think about it this way … think of a person who can’t swim, falling into a lake. What do other religions say to him?
Confucius says, ‘Profit by your experience.’ Buddha’s word for him? ‘Struggle!’ What are the teachings of Hinduism for him? ‘You may have another opportunity in your next incarnation.’ And finally, the fatalistic words of Mohammed, ‘Whether you sink or survive, it is the will of God.’
But The Jesus of the Bible gently says: ‘Take my hand’. And that story is illustrated when Peter tried to walk on water!
