Build Us A Church, O God.

Yesterday, I shared my prayer for our church.  It was inspired by General Douglas MacArthur’s prayer for his son that he wrote in 1952.  Several people asked me for it.  So here it is.

Oh Friend, my pray is that in the same way we would pray today, “Build us a church, O God.”

Build us a church that is reaching people far from God.

Build us a church that is filled with compassion.

Build us a church that is loving our city to life.

Build us a church that is serving.

Build us a church that inspires people to worship.

Build us a church that motivates people to missions.

Build us a church that is moved by people experiencing the life-changing power of Jesus.

Build us a church that is going where no one else is going – to the hurting, the helpless and the hopeless.

Build us a church Oh God that is fueled by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Build us a church that is healthy!

Build us a church that is living it’s full redemptive potential so we can all boldly say at the end of our journey that we have “not lived our life in vain.”

Lord, help us remember the why behind the what!”
