“And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.”
~ Matt 13:58 ~
Jesus visits his childhood home and does some teaching and miracles. First they asked, “Where did this man get this wisdom, and these miraculous powers?” (Matt. 13:54). But there tone begins to change: “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t His mother’s name Mary? And they took offense at Him” (Matt. 13:55-57).
Jesus didn’t do many miracles there “because of their lack of faith” (Matt. 13:58). Notice Jesus did some miracles there, but not many. Why? There was a lack of belief in God’s presence and power to do the impossible. I would never have wanted that written about me: “Jesus had all power and authority, but He did not do many miracles at The Point Church because of Todd’s lack of faith.” Make it personal. Own the reality that your faith does matter! You have to believe!
Mary and I were talking Saturday about something that needed some focused prayer. I thought, “I will start praying tomorrow for that.” God answered the prayer before I prayed – in fact within hours!!! The honest truth is Mary was praying the day before for that! =) She believed and God answered!
Today live in the reality that you have to believe in order to receive! What miracles are you reaching out for? What need is so visible that you can escape it? What hurt has been so deep that it is haunting you everyday?
Focus your prayers. Align your faith. See God’s mighty hand reach out to do the impossible and improbable! He can. He will.
- Do you believe God can do anything?
- What keeps you from absolute belief and trust in God?
- Is there a connection between faith and seeming insanity?
- How do you feel knowing that your faith matters?
