Our Message – Beyond Doubt

How many of you have ever doubting your faith at some point in your life?  I am sure that most of us have.  Let me say this:  Doubt is an essential part of belief.  I believe there are a lot of people who think that to have FAITH you can’t have any doubts.  And so many allow DOUBT to debilitate them from sharing their faith or truly going after a relationship with Christ.

Jesus approaches Thomas just after His resurrection – Thomas “doubts” – he had a moment of doubt – “I won’t believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in his side” (John 20:25). … does Jesus criticize him?  No … Jesus simply says, “Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!” (John 20:27).

Jesus gave him the evidence he needed!  Dr. Tim Keller while reading Mere Christianity by CS Lewis wrote in the margin of his book: “The evidence surrounding the claims of Christianity is simply overwhelming.”  But doubt is essential to faith.  Because faith is a belief in spite of some of your doubts.  And the more you experience of Christ the more the doubt will disappear … but it is a process!  After all if you had “all the answers it would not be faith would it.”

Embrace your doubts … and continue to believe … because the evidence is overwhelming and all around us.  This message of hope found in the Bible is changing lives!

You are evidence!!!  Has your life been changed?  Are you different than what you once were?  Have you placed your finger of faith in the nail scarred side of Jesus.  Don’t deny your doubts!  But in the process ask Jesus to build your faith.  What was doubting Thomas’ response to Jesus, “My Lord, My God.”

Jesus replaced doubt with an injection of faith.  That’s the message of the cross!

Through out my life, people had made think that I was wrong by doubting my faith and my believes….. I thought that by doubting as was a sinner, but after hearing you yesterday and reading you blog I understand that as humans is normal to feel this way. I realize that my doubting is what is making me stronger and capable loving the Lord more & more. I still question what happens in my life, but then God helps me …. one way or other to see why I had to face a wall.
Thank you for giving hope & a better understanding of what faith is. God bless you.

It’s interesting you mentioned this, I wish I could have been at you service this Sunday. I said is interesting because, right now I am doubting about a lot of things in my life, I am going trough a rough road in my life, and it do not seem to end. And is causing me to doubt my faith at times, I do make mistakes, but i feel for the most part, my faith in God is pretty strong, and I have testimony of it, so I ask my self, what else I have to do, to catch a break from life? So thank you pastor for you message, it inspired me to keep moving forward.
