Truth.

I am passionate about TRUTH.  I don’t think everyone can be right about everything and disagree.  There has to be truth.

Let’s do a truth test:

  1. What is 3 + 3?  6.
  2. Who wrote the Taming of the Shrew? Shakespeare.
  3. Who has the most receiving TDs in the NFL?  Jerry Rice – 197.
  4. What nation won the most Olympic medals in this years games?  The United States – 104.

How many of you would say, TRUE to all of those.  I hope so because they are all TRUE.  But what if I said, well, I don’t feel that 3+3=6 anymore – I believe it equals 10.  Most of us would say that person is nuts.  Or to argue over the fact that William Shakespeare wrote “Taming of the Shrew” and say it was written by ‘I don’t know’ Todd Bishop.

You get the idea.  You see, a lot of people today don’t embrace truth … instead they allow how they feel about something to determine whether or not it is true.  “Well, that is great for you, but not for me.”

Truth is defined as an “indisputable fact, proposition or principle.”  So understand this.  I believe that God’s Word is INDISPUTABLE.  And I will passionately preach it wherever I go.

There is a story about a great English actor named Macready. A popular preacher had an opportunity to meet him and said: “I wish you would explain to me something.” “Well, what is it? I don’t know that I can explain anything to a preacher.” The preacher asked, “What is the reason for the difference between you and me? You are appearing before crowds night after night with fiction, and the crowds come wherever you go. I am preaching the essential and unchangeable truth, and I am not getting any crowd at all.”

Macready’s answer was this: “This is quite simple. I can tell you the difference between us. I present my fiction as though it were truth; you present your truth as though it were fiction.”

You see, today we live in too many shades of gray – people don’t see black and white – they live in gray.  We as Christ-followers have the truth – let’s not live like it is fiction.  It is reality.

It will be so beautiful to live in a place were everyone is truthful to everyone, themselves & mostly to God. We have to pray to have… one day… a nation with people that see things the way they are in the scriptures.
Thank you Pastor for your sermons. God bless you.
