Culture of Honor.

Honor. It seems like a lost art in today’s culture, but we believe that honor is an important ingredient to any individuals or organization. Do you know when we tend to honor people?  When they are in a coffin or casket.  Friend, that’s too late to show honor.  We should show honor to the people that are around us that love us, value us and believe in us.

There is a woman caught in the very act of adultery.  Can you believe the embarrassment of this moment?  She caught having sex – and this private sin – is now brought into the middle of the city – and her sin is now public. The men now decide to stone her; and Jesus tells them, “If you don’t have any sin in your life and heart you can stone her now.” There is only one person in that crowd that could have stoned her and it was Jesus. Jesus did not stone her – he honored her. Jesus elevated her to a place of respect and dignity.  Friend, we need more of that in this world.

Let’s create a culture of honor again – in our homes, places of employment and churches. Let us be the church that loves people to life, serves people with passion and lift peoples spirits! 1 Peter 2:17:  “Honor all people.”  Or “Show proper respect to everyone.” Don’t just honor those who honor you, but even those who demean or disrespect you. Honor all people – not just the ones you like, but also the ones who drive you crazy.

Questions to Ponder:

  • What person do you need to honor even more?
  • Who is the hardest person in your life to honor?
  • Where have you given the most honor?
  • What keeps you from honoring all people?
